Dr. H. Honne Gowda
Dr. H. Honne Gowda obtained his Ph.D. from the University of Agricultural Sciences, Bangalore, Karnataka in 1989. He was a recipient of Junior Research Fellowship from the Indian Council of Agricultural Research, New Delhi for his post-graduation and awarded Gold Medal for his Ph.D.
He worked as a Research Associate at Mangalore University during 1989 to 1991 and then joined the Indian Space Research Organization (ISRO), Government of India as Scientist/Engineer-SD in the year 1991. Had an illustrious career for about 10 years at ISRO in various capacities from the Scientist/Engineer-SD to Scientist/Engineer-SF.
He served as Director of Karnataka State Remote Sensing Applications Centre (KSRSAC), an autonomous organization under the Department of Information Technology, Government of Karnataka between the period 2000 and 2005. He has successfully guided a large number of remote sensing and GIS-based programs in multi-disciplinary domains, which were relevant to developmental issues of the State of Karnataka. Later, his services were absorbed by the Government of Karnataka and placed him as Director (Technical), Department of Science and Technology. He is the recipient of several awards for professional excellence in the field of Geoinformatics and science and technology.
He was superannuated from the post of Special Secretary (Technical), DST, GoK on May 31, 2020, after working for more than three decades, both in Govt. of India and Govt. of Karnataka. Currently, he is working as Dean (Research) at JSS Science and Technology (JSSSTU), Mysuru since June 2021.
