DEDICATION OF RAIN WATER HARVESTING SYSTEM TO GOVERNMENT HIGH SCHOOL - KARAHALLI.
Environment Association of Bangalore (EAB) has built and dedicated a Rain Water Harvesting System (RWH) to Government High School, Karahalli, Devanahalli Taluka on Thursday, December 10, 2020. Dr. R G Nadadur, President, EAB, dedicated the project to the school. He told the audience about EAB. He also touched upon the genesis of the RWH project. He said that the primary objective was to slow down the drop out of girl students at the high school level. He also said that this was the third project that EAB had completed. He said that EAB would strive to provide water facilities in toilets in more Government Schools. Dr Nadadur thanked Sri K M Subbaiah, Administrator, Oxford English School, Devanahalli for his very active support in executing this project. He also thanked Smt Usha Shetty, Managing Trustee, Gramaantara Trust and Smt Kavita S, Panchayat Development Officer, Karahalli Grama Panchayat for their support is implementing this project. Summary of the project This project envisaged the harvesting of rain water from the roof top of the school building. The rain water is filtered and stored in a large sump and pumped to different overhead tanks, which are used for the purposes of toilets, washing and cleaning. The cost of the project was Rs 1.00 lakh (approximately). The beneficiaries of this project are students and staff of the school, in terms of maintaining better cleanliness, hygiene and health. It is specifically aimed at providing water during the water-scarcity months.
