A new project named Namma Thota was launched in six selected government schools in Chickaballapura and Shidlaghatta Talukas.
The objective of this project is to grow vegetables in the schools. A variety of vegetables, including spinach, beans, radish, tomatoes, brinjal, gourds, curry leaves, coriander leaves, among others, are proposed to be grown under this project.
These vegetables will then be used in the hot, mid day meals that are prepared in the schools. It is expected that the vegetables will give the students some valuable minerals and provide the required nutrition for their good growth and development.
Dr R G Nadadur, Smt Usha Shetty, Sri Kumaraswamy, Sri Bhaskar, Sri Laksh Kumar  and others participated in the launch programs in the six schools. This is a Pilot of the new project. More schools will be added after observing the results of the Pilot.
