Environment Association of Bangalore (EAB), in partnership with Gramaantara Trust and Government Urdu Higher Primary School, Sidlaghatta, Chickaballapura District, took up a tree plantation program in the School premises, on Tuesday, February 23, 2021.
Dr. R G Nadadur, President, EAB and Smt. Usha Shetty, Managing Trustee, Gramantaara Trust, participated in this program. A number of saplings, mainly mango and jackfruit, were planted in the small compound of the School. The students were told about the importance of trees and plants. They were advised to look after the saplings and enable them to grow into big trees. Dr Nadadur and Smt. Shetty thanked Sri Ranganath, Headmaster of the School for taking an active interest in arranging the tree plantation program. They also thanked the students and staff for digging the pits and getting the ground ready for the planting work. EAB and GT plan to participate in the massive vana mahotsava campaigns of the Forest Department. They also have plans of taking up small tree planting programs in the farms of small and marginal farmers and also in educational institutions. The three major requirements are land, water and interest in nurturing the saplings.
